Fertility Fitness

This is a group program helping women to lose weight and improve their self-esteem, with the aim of maximising natural and treatment pregnancy rates. In addition, there is a significant reduction in the risk of miscarriage, which is increased in women who are overweight. The program lasts 6 months and is the only treatment women undertake during that time. A brochure is available describing the program in more detail. The program is subsidised by Fertility First for a 2 hour session. An hour's exercise and a seminar by a nutritionist, psychiatrist, keep-fit instructor or reproductive medicine specialist occurs each week.

Fertility Feelings

This is a group program aimed at reducing women's anxiety and depression levels, improving relationships and maximising the chance of conceiving on and off treatment. The program runs for 10 weeks and can be done before, during or after treatment. A brochure is available describing the program in more detail. The program, subsidised by Fertility First, is run each week for a 2 to 3 hour session. Two therapists, the Centre’s counselor (a clinical psychologist) and our Senior Nurse Co-ordinator conduct the sessions. Partners will be included in some of these sessions.

Counseling Services

Counseling is an integral part of fertility treatment and will be discussed with you at your first appointment. Some couples need to work on problems relating to their relationship, sexuality or unresolved issues to do with past fertility treatments or problems. The Counseling service at Fertility First is available for these issues or we can refer you to other associated services as seems most appropriate.
